Shhhh… our 16inch (40.5Cm) thai infant boy is sleeping quietly on a hand-made wooden bench. This full body porcelain doll is hand painted and wearing the traditional clothing of an era now gone. Our porcelain dolls are made near bantawi just south of chiang mai, thailand where they specialize in traditional hill tribes and thai style porcelain dolls. The authentic costumes of the hill tribe dolls depict the dress and the jewelry of each hill tribe which is uniquely different and reflects their own cultural diversity. Just a hundred or so years ago almost all thai children’s hair was cut in a topknot. Children of more affluent families adorned these topknots with gold and silver jewelry. Both young boys and young girls wore a blouse and skirt-like trousers. The bench is 12in x8in x6in (30.5X20x15cm).
