Our porcelain dolls are made near bantawi just south of chiang mai, thailand where they specialize in traditional hill tribes and thai style porcelain dolls. The authentic costumes of the hill tribe dolls depict the dress and the jewelry of each hill tribe which is uniquely different and reflects their own cultural diversity. The lisu or lishaw is one of the ten hill tribes found in northern thailand. The lisu are mostly found in northern thailand. They typically build their villages very near water and along side their rice fields. The lisu build their houses on or above the ground. Historically, the lisu grew opium as a cash crop but have largely replaced opium with hand-made crafts and other agricultural products to sustain the villages.
