Our company, From Something Old Company, began in 1991 when Faith combined her two loves of flower arranging and antiques. From something old... Something new was created! She rented a space in a local craft mall and enjoyed the creative outlet it provided. Three months into the lease, she asked her husband to help fill the booth by putting a few things of his own for sale. He decided to develop a relatively inexpensive product, rather than the labor intensive woodcarvings he had been creating. Thus evolved his first paintings on Chinese rice paper. He crumpled them up, framed them and put a price tag of $25 per 5x7 original piece! The drawings were so unique and so well received, that weekly checks on stock found his artwork always sold out!. Within a year, Faith abandoned flower arranging and immersed herself into the realm of print production; abandoned woodcarving and expanded his knowledge in the world of watercolor. During the next 10 years, they grew the business to encompass large wholesale markets, small retail shows and five family members. Today, as in the beginning, the business finds just the two of them working side by side. His drawings are primarily from his childhood memories and objects from the past, so the business name, From Something Old Company, still relates to the work... And has stood the test of time.
